William and the "Puppy Dogs"

We went out to feed the prairie dogs some old corn cobs the other day. Or rather, the "puppy dogs" as William kept calling them. Papa McElroy has a special fondness for prairie dogs so these pictures are for him. How do we know that prairie dogs like corn cobs?

We don't. We just dropped the corn cobs down the holes and hope that the prairie dogs did not think they were being torpedoed. Serious environmentalists we are.

You might have noticed there is nary a prairie dog in sight in these photos. Yes, they ran like the wind when they saw us coming. And unfortunately, I don't have a good enough telephoto zoom on my camera to capture any photos when we were finally far enough away for them to feel comfortable coming out. But, they were there - I promise.
